Pinot Noir le Premier 750ml

The Pinot Noir le Premier 2021 brings joy of Salgescher red wine with a red core and fine spice into the glass: cherry, raspberry, rose petal, a bit of earth and a hint of spice. A wine that has charm, but also enough substance to not politely hide next to veal, shoulder roast and chop.

On the nose, ripe red cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants and a hint of strawberry are present. Added to this are rose petals, a bit of pomegranate, fine anise spice, dried herbs and a slightly autumnal note of leaves and warm earth. The scent is open, red-fruity and spicy – like Pinot with rolled-up sleeves.

On the palate, it is dry, juicy and harmoniously built. The red fruit remains clear, the acidity gives drive, the tannins are fine but noticeable. With 13.9% vol., it brings more presence than its elegant aroma initially suggests. The finish remains cherry-fruity, spicy and pleasantly long, with a fine interplay of fruit, herbs and delicate earthiness.

Culinarily, this wine belongs at a table where honest cooking is done: calf's head with vinaigrette, shoulder roast with herb jus, pork or veal chop from the pan, meatloaf with mushrooms, blood sausage with apple, lentils with bacon, beets from the oven or a crispy rösti with fried egg and gravy. It brings enough freshness for hearty cuisine and enough elegance for the more festive plate.

Serving tip: enjoy at around 14 °C. A Burgundy glass gives the red fruit, floral notes and fine spice more room.

A Pinot for the first good sip at the table: red-fruity, spicy, lively – and with exactly that grounding that great drinking pleasure needs.
