Johannisberg Le Rhin 750ml

The Johannisberg le Rhin 2023 brings Sunday into the glass: bright, dry, finely fruity and with that relaxed Valaisan style that immediately makes you crave an apéritif, asparagus, fish and a table in the sun.

Its aroma shows pear, yellow apple, white flowers and a hint of quince. Fine herbs, a bit of hay, a delicate almond note and a bright mineral freshness come together. The wine appears clear and appetising – like a peaceful walk through the vineyards before lunch begins.

The name looks towards the Rhine: Johannisberg refers to the famous Johannisberg Castle in the Rheingau. In Valais, however, Johannisberg today does not stand for Riesling, but for Sylvaner, also known as Gros Rhin – a variety that here shows its finely fruity, round and wonderfully food-friendly side.

On the palate, it is dry, fresh and harmonious. The pear and apple fruit remains juicy, the acidity is pleasantly appealing, the body brings fine fullness and the finish remains clean, slightly herbal and elegant. At 12.5% vol., it is light-footed enough for the aperitif and simultaneously present enough for the kitchen.

Culinarily, it pairs well with asparagus, fish, trout, char, pike-perch, vegetable quiche, spring salads, fresh cheese, light poultry or small savoury snacks on a Sunday afternoon.

Serving suggestion: enjoy at 10–12 °C. Chilled, it shows its freshness, in the glass it reveals pear, blossoms and a fine almond note.

A wine like a Sunday without haste: bright, friendly and just right when an aperitif suddenly turns into lunch.
