Jonas Ettlin is an oenologist, winemaker, and the defining signature behind JET.
His path led him from studying oenology in Changins to his own winery on Lake Zurich.
Today, his attention is equally on the individual vine as well as the wine in the cellar.
Individual vine care, consistent yield reduction and biodynamic management require constant presence, observation and a fine sense for the right moment.
In the cellar, he continues this work with the same precision and accompanies the wines with as few interventions as possible until the bottle.
The signature is created in the vineyard.
Biodynamic viticulture at Jet means above all attention.
Vines are individually supported, natural cycles are promoted and the work in the vineyard is continually adapted to the soil, plant and weather.
Instead of just combating diseases, the focus is on strengthening the vine itself and creating as vital an environment as possible.
Biodiversity, living soils and the conscious renunciation of rigid recipes make the vineyard a dynamic system that must be read anew every day.
Nature sets the rhythm.
The origin of JET wines is characterised by strong individual sites in Uetikon on Lake Zurich and at Äntschberg in Kloten.
Above Uetikon, at Grüt, sparse, rocky soils meet the mild lake climate and cool downwinds from Pfannenstiel, while the sheltered Wäck in the old village centre is characterised by deeper soils and a warmer microclimate.
At Äntschberg in Kloten, old vines grow on sparse limestone on a cool south-facing slope, nestled between forest and meadows.
Thus, each site brings its own tension, structure and expressiveness to the wines.
Each site speaks its own language.
At JET, two brothers pull together.
Jonas Ettlin shapes the vinous signature of the winery with his work in the vineyard and the biodynamic orientation according to Demeter.
Elias Ettlin brings additional professional depth and international networking through the Wine Academy of Austria.
Together, they further develop JET and combine practical winemaking skills with further education, exchange, and a clear shared vision of wine.
The European Wine Knighthood adds a cultural dimension to this environment.
